Here is a list of top family friendly Christmas movies for Catholics to watch!
Do you get to the Christmas season and find yourself forgetting what Christmas movies to watch? If you are like me, my DVDs get buried and I am overwhelmed by streaming movies (that sadly go away when the Christmas season truly starts!). I keep a list of classics that we try to watch during the 12 days of Christmas.
- 1. It’s a Wonderful Life
- A classic Christmas movie to put the whole family in the Christmas Spirit. What a treat–George Bailey gets to see what the world would be like without him in it. Your children will be able to learn how important their impact in life can be!
- 2. A Christmas Carol
- Many versions exist so watch a few and pick your favorite. See the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future revealing how your actions can change others’ lives.
- 3. How the Grinch stole Christmas
- A movie about resilience in facing a man who tried to steal Christmas from the whole town. Children can learn that Christmas is more than just about giving and getting gifts.
- 4. A Charlie Brown Christmas
- A sweet cartoon with fun music about Charlie Brown learning the true meaning of Christmas–Jesus.
- 5. Home Alone
- A quirky movie about a boy being left home alone over the Christmas holiday. There is no real lesson to this movie other than an enjoyable film to watch.
- 6. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
- A movie that has a lot of parallels to Christianity, taking place in a parallel world that has been without Christmas. A family comes together to conquer evil and restore the land.
- 7. A few other popular Christmas movies that I have not seen in a while include The Bell’s of St Mary’s, Meet Me in St Louis, and White Christmas.
- 8. Lastly, a movie that I have not seen that pops up on the list of recommendations is Joyeux Noel. Have you seen it? Let me know in the comments if you think it is a good family movie for Catholics to watch!
There are many great movies out there to watch with the family but this list is the best of family friendly Christmas movies to watch. Get your calendars out and start planning when you will be able to watch them during your 12 days of Christmas!
