Godchildren Gifts part 2! Do you struggle to find great godchildren gifts year after year? If you have young godchildren who can read, this list will help you find that special gift! It is important to pray for and nurture your godchildren. We try to use our gifts to build their faith.
For our children and our six godchildren, I keep a list of what we get the children each year. This helps us avoid repeat gifts because we love the following gifts so much! Most people are on a budget and so most of the gifts on the list are less than $30! You may notice a repeat from my previous post but this is because the child can now read the book themselves.

Missals
Children’s Missals are hard to come by as they are frequently out of stock. If you can find one at your local gift shop in stock, scoop it up!
Latin Mass Children’s Missal – a traditional Children’s Missal for the Latin Mass
Marian Children’s Missal – also a Missal for the Latin Mass made by a different publisher (the current publisher is the SSPX but it is a reprint of a book that received its imprimatur in 1958).
If you cannot find one of the above Missals in stock for the Latin Mass, you can purchase this one (the current publisher is the SSPX but it is a reprint of a book that received its imprimatur in 1960).
For a Novus Ordo Missal, I would recommend another St Joseph series book by Fr. Lovasik called My Picture Missal.
Confession
Fr. Lovasik Going to Confession Book– a short book on preparing for confession
First Communion
St. Joseph First Communion Catechism– an abbreviated work from the Baltimore Catechism that focuses on first communion.
A necklace/chain with a crucifix– an excellent gift for first communicants! It will be something they cherish over the years and can continue to wear!
Advent/Christmas
Nativity set – something that if cared for properly can become a family heirloom! Costco usually has an affordable set at Christmas time. A popular nativity set is by Fontanini and can be found at many online stores. Since nativities can be expensive, you can also buy one piece at a time so they have the full collection before high school graduation!
A beautiful story about Christmas love is Annie and Willie’s Prayer. It has been read on Christmas eve by the matriarch of my family for generations. It is an older story from the 1800s. In order to buy it in print, you may have to buy it used.
Catholic Catechesis
The Baltimore Catechism Volume 1 is an introduction to Cathechism and geared for young readers.
Rosaries for godchildren gifts
A metal and bead rosary – a great gift for anyone! You can choose all plastic versions, wood, beads, and even seed ones as well. My favorite rosary has metal links but seed beads.
Fun for both godparents and godchildren bonus gift
Spot It– Our family and people that we have gifted it to love this game. It can be challenging for adults to “spot it” and children can “spot it” faster than the adult making for a fun game for everyone! There are several different ways that you can play the game as well!
